Hamilton West MP Tim Macindoe is welcoming today’s confirmation that Forest Lake School is one of six Waikato schools to benefit from a $4 million investment to build new classrooms.

The local MP made the announcement that the school will receive a new modular classroom during a meeting with staff and the Board of Trustees chairperson at the school this morning.

“During recent visits to the school I have observed the constraints that some teachers and their classes are coping with as a result of steady roll growth, and I am pleased that the pressure will be alleviated when the new classroom is ready to be used in the second half of next year,” Mr Macindoe said.

The funding follows a first round of investments that was announced in May and June this year which saw the city benefit from around $30 million for the new Sylvester Primary School and the expansion of Endeavour Primary School in Hamilton.
“The second round of investments is fantastic news for our region,” said Mr Macindoe. “Waikato is experiencing steady population growth and that’s having a flow-on effect on local school rolls.”

More announcements as part of the second round of investments in roll growth classrooms nationwide will be made over the coming weeks, with a third round of investments expected to be announced in February next year.

Further substantial investment was announced last week to improve facilities at Ngaruawahia High School and Cambridge High School.
